Australian Geographic was created by philanthropist, adventurer and businessman Dick Smith in 1985 with the launch of the first Journal. His aim was to inspire and present a positive view about Australia and Australians through the introduction of the Australian Geographic Journal.

Australian Geographic - Queensland Store

Following the success of a thriving mail order business with subscribers, the first retail shop was opened in York Street Sydney in March 1991. With a desire to inspire discovery for all ages the shops offer a wide selection of educational and entertaining science and nature based games and toys, high quality range of telescopes, weather stations and binoculars as well as all the essentials for your next adventure whether it is in Australia or abroad. Our Australiana range celebrates all that is uniquely Australian from authentic Aboriginal tools and art, books to reveal our unique flora and fauna and gifts to remind you of home. There are currently 49 Australian Geographic retail shops located throughout Australia with plans for many more stores in the very near future.
